I’m writing this on a chilly Monday evening, the kind where you know autumn has settled in and winter isn’t far behind. And what better topic for a night like this than one of my favourite things… blankets!


Over the years I’ve made plenty, tried different fabrics and learnt what really works. The biggest lesson? It’s not just about looking nice and keeping warm, it’s about how well a blanket washes and dries too. There’s nothing worse in winter than waiting days for something to dry when the weather window is already so short. That’s exactly how the idea for the Tweed & Tether Country Fleece Dog Blanket was born.


If your dog is anything like ours, they love a good snuggle spot, whether it’s the sofa, their bed or the back of the car after a long walk. We wanted to create something practical for life with dogs (and horses too) but beautiful enough to keep out in your home.


Why fleece?


We’ve always loved fleece. It’s the fabric we cosy up with on cold evenings because of its insulating warmth, and it’s just as brilliant for drying dogs after a wet walk thanks to its natural moisture-wicking properties. With animals coming and going, fleece is something we reach for time and again, so making our own range of blankets felt like the perfect next step.


What makes our dog blankets special?


Every blanket is handmade from superior certified anti-pill fleece - a fabric tested to resist bobbling and pilling. We double layer it to create a luxurious 640gsm thickness, so it feels wonderfully soft yet strong enough for daily use.


We offer two sizes:

  • Classic (90 x 80cm) – perfect for dog beds, crates, car seats or sofa corners

  • Luxe (130 x 130cm) – a generous size for stretching out or sharing a cuddle by the fire


Whether you’re off on a pub trip, drying off after a muddy walk, or settling in at home, these blankets give your dog (and your furniture) that extra layer of comfort and protection.


Easy care for everyday life


One of the best things about fleece is how easy it is to look after:

  • Wash in warm water with other soft fabrics

  • Avoid bleach

  • Skip fabric softeners (they reduce the fleece’s natural water-repellent properties)

  • Air dry if possible

  • No ironing needed
